Kodagu, Karnataka, India
Dilan Mandanna grew up on the coffee estates of Kodagu, in the Western Ghats of South India — a landscape that shaped his understanding of wildlife long before he picked up a camera. That early immersion in the forests and estates of Coorg became the foundation of a career spent observing, tracking and documenting India's wild places.
A wildlife filmmaker and photographer, Mandanna has filmed for BBC, National Geographic and several international production companies. His fieldwork spans the length of India, with a particular depth of knowledge in the forests of the Western Ghats. His expertise extends beyond the lens — camera trapping, wildlife tracking, sound recording and the patient, methodical observation that produces images made from genuine understanding of animal behaviour.
His photographs have been published in wildlife journals and have received international recognition. His contributions to Wild Estates of India draw from a lifetime spent in the landscapes where these records are made.
